Apaeros also has the added capability to obtain data which can be used to measure small-vessel blood flow. Through a combination of imaging, instrument optimization and third-party post-processing software, quantitative measures can be made.


  • Stop horizontal scan over a blood vessel
  • Measure blood velocity by tracking erythrocytes moving across a scanning line
  • Length of line related to velocity

This has allowed researchers to produce a blood velocity profile for retinal vessels. Results noted in the following publication utilize a similar instrument. This type of analysis can be made using Apaeros.
